We build infrastructure in the Nordics
NCC Infrastructure’s operations comprise projects of all sizes, from roads, railways, bridges and tunnels to water and sewage plants, pipelines and plants for industries and the energy sector. Although the business area is Nordic, operations are mainly conducted in Sweden.
We develop methods and technologies for reducing climate impact and managing climate effects. For example, we use green electricity and choose concrete with a lower CO2e where possible, we upgrade pipelines rather than install new ones and offer various surface water solutions for preventing floods.
We create superior sustainable solutions for infrastructure of the future. With more than a hundred years in operation, we have already built a large part of the infrastructure that currently links together people, places and countries.

Sustainable construction in Sweden
NCC Building Sweden has operations in Sweden and builds housing and offices, public premises, such as as schools, hospitals and sports arenas, and commercial premises, such as stores and warehouses.
The renovation of housing and offices is also an increasingly important feature of the business. Many buildings built in the 1960s and 70s are in dire need of upgrade and NCC wants to be a major player in the market.
With advanced skills in sustainability, digitalization and partnering, NCC Building Sweden develops projects jointly with customers starting at the early stages. Together, we create sustainable solutions that provide great social value.

A natural supply chain
NCC Industry is based on production of stone materials and asphalt, as well as foundation engineering and paving. The various components belong together and form a natural supply chain that is well integrated into NCC’s construction and civil engineering operations.
Stone materials, which are mainly extracted from own quarries, are used in asphalt production and as input materials in construction and civil engineering projects. Asphalt is produced in NCC’s own asphalt plants and is then used in various types of paving. Foundation engineering comprises piling, support structures, foundation reinforcement and rebar.
The main markets are concentrated in the Nordics, where NCC is the leading player in the industry. Sweden is the single largest market, accounting for about half of sales.

Projects
Securing future water distribution
“As supervisor, I’m responsible for ensuring that the progress of the low-water reservoir and the first six meters of the support columns are handled as smoothly as possible.”
Tunnels under the ocean floor in the Faroe Islands
NCC has a specialist unit for operating and supporting projects worth billions of SEK – a multidisciplinary team for offering customers a strong partner in major, demanding infrastructure projects. Constructing tunnels under the ocean floor is such a project.
Good schools based on pooled knowledge
The best schools are built through teamwork. We can then learn from each other and create buildings and schoolyards that meet the school’s challenges and needs. When working on the new Brogårdaskolan school, cooperation with the customer – the municipality and the principal – was decisive.
Service for excavation rubble reduces climate impact
NCC and Volvo Trucks have jointly developed a digital service to increase the efficiency of loading and removal of excavation rubble. The service was tested at NCC’s worksite for the Centralen phase of the West Link. Calculations indicate that the gains will be thousands of fewer journeys, corresponding to 1,000 tons of CO2 emissions over the project period.
Tramline construction in many phases
NCC is a key contractor for the Bergen Light Rail and is now building two more parts of the tramline in the Fyllingsdalen and Mindemyren districts. This will be NCC’s eleventh project on the light rail line since 2008.
NoDig – trenchless pipeline installation
“My work involves upgrading our pipelines for water and sewage, district cooling, gas and fiber. This is what we do: we dig down to the pipes at what we call connection points and insert a robot in the pipe, which checks it on the inside – then we find out exactly what needs to be rectified. Some things can be done without any digging.”
